Dont' forget, wish_list is open for business!

Hi, guys!

Sorry that I haven't been around much, my lupus has really been kicking my butt the last couple of weeks. Add to that still needing to take care of mom every day and my energy levels haven't had very much left over to get me through the day. I'm feeling a little better though, my doc upped my meds again so hopefully that will help.

What this post is for is to remind everyone that Wish List is sitting there just waiting for this year's Wish Lists. It's time to get started on spreading some holiday cheer around. Especially this year when so many of us had had such hard years. We need to start making those extra smiles.

Please feel free to pimp the comm anywhere you want to. The more people we have participating, the more chances we have to do nice things for one another. :)

Stuff for Sale

Hi guys,

Here's the listing of my and Mom's jewelry for sale. I'm going to have more stuff up later,I thought that it would be easier to separate out the jewelry from the other stuff. If you see anything you like and have any questions just drop me a note and let me know. I'll do my best to answer them. I'm hoping that with Christmas coming up soon that you guys might find some things you'd like to use as presents.

All of the earrings are either clip or screw on. Some of them, especially the pretty Rhinestone ones date back as far as the fifties. Mama always had some really pretty things but I know I'll just never wear them. This way we both hope that they'll go on to a good home where they'll be used.

Look over the list and let me know if you'd like to buy anything. If so, I can tell you what the postage would be from your zip code. As always, my PayPal addy is bstaton @ iglou.com.

Mixed Jewelry Items for Sale

Thanks so much for looking and for always being there.

*hugs*

I promise to catch you up on everything else later today.

*hugs*

When you see this, post in your own journal with your favorite quote from The Princess Bride. Preferably not "As you wish" or the Inigo Montoya speech.

Vizzini: "No more rhyming now, I mean it."
Fezzik: "Anybody want a peanut?"
Vizzini: "DYEEAAHHHHHH."

Darn it!

I was hoping to get to go to Wincon. Still do but today just made it a lot harder.

Lee's been out of town the last few days, he was at the first of two work conferences scheduled for this month. He's on his way back today, should be home around 7:30. I've been driving the RAV, I had to get his tags replaced, get gas. It's been making a bit of a pinging sound so I was going to have it checked out. As I was coming down Taylorsville Road from getting his tags the oil and engine lights both came on. With visions of losing the engine entirely from a dropped valve I pulled over, put on the flashers and prayed not to get hit until I could get it towed to our mechanic.

They've checked it out and think that it might be the timing belt, which means that they'll have to pull the engine just to get to it. Which also means that it's going to cost us between 4 to 5 hundred dollars to fix it. We don't have a choice, Lee has to have his car to get back and forth to work. They said it should be ready sometime tomorrow.

This is a bad month for this to happen in anyway with the two work trips for Lee. Like I've said before, though they do reimburse us we always have to pay for his lodging up front. Just the one he's coming back from today cost us $405.00. Hopefully they'll get that back to us before he has to take the next trip the end of the month.

That's why I really don't know if I can justify even trying to go to Wincon, no matter how much I'd love to. Even if I try and go I'll probably have to bring mom with me unless I can talk Betsy into taking her a few days. Sometimes it feels like I'm just not supposed to do stuff like that. Especially since it's a frivolous expense and it's just for me.

I'm going to try and sell a bunch of stuff, see what happens. If it's meant to be it's meant to be. The car breaking down is probably the universe trying to tell me something. Just sucks a little though.

*hugs*

I'll never understand whose bright idea it was to build a hospital right next to a graveyard any way.

3) Helped a doctor deliver a baby practically standing on my head in the cab of a beat up old pickup truck parked in the hospital's ER parking lot. Also in the wee hours of the morning. Night shift was always exciting at the little community hospital I worked at right out of nursing school. :)

Updated Sales list (Books & Music)

Hey guys,

I'm going to be posting a bunch of stuff to sell, both here and over at EBay, the next little bit. Besides needing to try and start saving back for repainting the house we are beyond broke right now. With all the damage from the wind storms that came through here last weekend I haven't been able to work at all this week. Mom's daycare has been closed because of no electricity and I didn't have any one else to watch her. So, that means no paycheck for me and Lee doesn't get paid again until the 30th. So, I'm going to try to sell a bunch of stuff to help us get by.

I'll post the jewelry, both mine and mom's, in a separate listing from this. She's got a lot of beautiful costume jewelry pieces. Plus, I've got a bunch of comics I'll be listing as soon as I can get pictures made of them. I'm also going to try and sell my X-Men Resin art pieces; Wolverine, Rogue & Gambit. They're all limited editions and are still like brand new.

Much as I hate to, we're going to try and sell mom's antique Wormy Chestnut pieces; two bookcases and a Fireplace bench. I just have to figure out what to try and ask for them.

Anyway, here's the first batch of stuff. Let me know if there's anything that you'd like. I can do PayPal, my addy is bstaton @ iglou.com. We can add in what postage would be once I know your zip code.

Thanks so much, guys, for looking.

(Stuff for Sale Updated September 08)

This is what happens when you stay up too late...

You know guys, I just had a really weird thought a bit ago. What if Castiel is lying about who he is? What if he's actually Lucifer in disguise? It would explain the black wings and the supposedly inadvertent blinding of an innocent who just happened to get in his way. Because, think about it; what better way could he use to get closer to his potential competition than through Dean?

There sure wouldn't be anyone else more powerful down below and he could certainly yank someone out of his own realm. It's just a thought and is very random but it could really be neat, huh?

OMG!!!

Wow, guys! I guessed who Castiel was back in July! Plus I'm afraid my other guesses might be starting to come true from last December. I hope not, I don't want them on opposite sides of the war but I guess we'll have to just wait and see.

But guys! Oh my goodness did the show rock tonight, every single scene. From Dean pretty much literally climbing up out of Hell to his hugs with both Bobby and Sam to Sam's sending a demon back to Hell with only the power of his mind. Wow, just wow!

Our show is back and better than ever! :)

This was where my misguided brain took me after seeing that mis-spelling. Plus, I wanted to do something for tvm's wonderful Hurt/Comfort Meme that she has going on over in her lj. I hope you guys like how it turned out.

Title: Photographs & Memories
Author: digitalwave
Characters: Sam & Dean
Rating: PG-13, for language
Word count: 1,296
Warnings: for mild language
Spoilers: Up through all aired episodes
Prompt: Post-Hell: Sam & Dean, scars.
Disclaimer: The characters in this story remain the property of Eric Kripke, Robert Singer and related production companies. None of the pretties belong to me, I'm only borrowing them.

Sam sat quietly on the floor of the sun room, fixated on the project he worked on. A tiny frown marred his face, lower lip bitten in concentration as his long fingers gently smoothed out each new photo he placed.

Dean watched from the doorway to the room, standing silent guard over his brother. He smiled as Sam brushed his hair back out of his eyes for the umpteenth time. Damn kid's hair grew like weeds; it already needed to be whacked off again.

Dean stiffened at the slight noise of a footfall behind him. Turning he put a finger to his lips, motioning for them to step out into the hall.

"Hey, Doc, what's up? Got the latest scans back on Sammy already?" Dean ran nervous fingers through his hair, unconsciously straightening to his full height as he turned to face Doctor Johnston.

Smiling sadly she nodded, gesturing to the sheaf of printouts held tightly in her hand. "Yes, Dean, I knew you'd want to see them as soon as they came back." Moving over to a table and chairs set in a nearby alcove she spread them out, pointing her pen at the topmost picture.

"Dean, look here, do you see those dark splotches on his brain scan?"

Cold settled into Dean's bones, threatening to take his breath as he followed the sweep of her hand over the paper. "Yeah, Doc, I do. Whatta' they mean?"

"They're scar tissue, Dean, little fissures, bruises, evidence of past bleeds. Individually they'd be reabsorbed; the damage would heal over time. Cumulatively, like Sam's injuries are, we're not sure." She glanced up from the readouts, eyes searching his. "You say he used to play Extreme Sports?"

Dean looked back through the glass doors, watched Sam still sprawled out on the floor. "Yeah, he played hockey, did rock climbing, took some pretty nasty falls."

He watched the doctor nod, saw her accept the lies once again as she smiled back at Dean. "All I can tell you is, give him time. See how far he can come with therapy and more of a chance to heal. I wish I could give you assurances that he'll come back to you at a hundred percent but, I can't." Gathering the reports back into their folder, she stood up.

Dean put out his hand, hoped she would ignore how badly it shook as she clasped it. "Thanks, doc, for everything."

He watched as she walked away then turned, opening the door to the sunroom where Sam waited for him so patiently. Walking over he knelt down, hand light on Sam's shoulder.

Sam looked up, face transformed with a bright smile. "Dean, hi!"

Dean smiled back, heart lighter just to see the pure joy on Sam's face. "Hey, buddy. Whatcha' doing?"

"I made a present for you, Dean. Look, see? Nurse said it should be 'bout my home. See?" Smiling he pushed the collage of pictures he'd worked on so diligently toward Dean.

Tears pricked at Dean's eyes, making them burn, as he saw what Sam had done. Pictures of sleek, black cars filled the page, interspersed with the few, sad images that remained from their childhood. There were also photos that had been taken since they'd been here at the rehab facility. Thankfully those all showed them laughing or with silly grins on their faces for the camera.

Wordlessly he traced over the images, all placed with care on the cardboard backing. "Sammy, this is beautiful, buddy, I love it."

Sam looked up at Dean, concern dimming the joy on his face. "Dean? Are you crying? I... I didn't mean to make you sad…"

Clearing his suddenly clogged throat Dean carefully shoulder-bumped Sam.

"No, you dofus, these are good tears. Doesn't always mean you're sad if you're crying, squirt." Dean leaned over ruffling Sam's hair.

"Deaaaan!"

"Hey, Sammy, you ready to blow this popsicle stand? Ready to go home?"

Sam gathered up his present, carefully holding on as he and Dean put away the supplies he'd used to make it. "To the Impala?"

Dean flinched slightly, shaking his head. "No kiddo, not quite yet. We've still gotta put in some more therapy time at the hospital before you're done. You just don't have to sleep here any more. Besides, you don't wanna leave any of your new friends yet, do you?"

Sam tipped his head forward, looking thoughtful. "No, Dean, guess not. So, then, where we going?"

"Bobby and me found us a place. It's real close here to the hospital. Plus, I got that job with Bobby's friend at the garage. I told you about it, remember?"

"Yeah…" Sam looked down; tracing his fingers over the pictures he'd placed. "So, we can't hit the road yet, huh?"

Dean gripped Sam's shoulder, squeezed it gently. "Not yet, buddy, but soon. I promise."

Sam looked up at Dean with so much trust and love in his face that it hurt like a bitch but Dean somehow held on to his smile.

"Okay."

"Cool. Now, get your butt in gear, I've gotta go talk to the docs to get your walking papers and you've got to get all that crap in your room packed up. Ready?" Dean stood up at Sam's nod. Reaching down he placed his hand on Sam's elbow to help steady him as he followed Dean up from the floor.

Air puffed out of his lungs as he was suddenly hugged within an inch of his life by his very own Gigantor. "I'm glad we're going home, Dean."

"Me too, kiddo, me too." Turning his head he saw Kathy, Sam's nursing attendant, as she stood watching them from the doorway, hastily wiping her eyes. "Hey, Kathy."

"Hi, Dean." She gave them both a somewhat watery smile.

Carefully disentangling himself from his grinning baby brother, he got another huff of laughter from Sam as he again ruffled his hair. "Now, you scoot with Kathy and I'll go do my thing with the lovely Nurse Pam. See you back in your room in just a few minutes, okay?"

"Okay!" Sam turned toward Kathy as he excitedly showed her his gift for Dean as she helped him back to his room. Dean watched, comforted, as she automatically adjusted her stride to match the hesitant shuffle step caused by Sam's weak right leg.

Once they were out of sight Dean dropped down into the nearest chair, his trembling legs no longer willing to support him. He covered his face with his hands, fighting to get back his game face before he saw Sam again.

He wished sometimes that Lillith wasn't dead just so he could have the pleasure of killing that Queen Bitch all over again. Sam didn't deserve the cost he'd paid to win back Dean's freedom. Hell, he was still paying it, every single day. Sometimes the worst scars were the ones you couldn't see.

Bobby told him all the time that it was worth it, that Dean was worth it. That, between the three of them they'd saved the whole damned world.

He hoped so, prayed so. Things like today, Sam's sweet gift, that amazing hug, helped him keep on breathing, kept him going when nothing else could.

Dean stood up, squaring his shoulders. This was just another fight they had to win. One of these days they'd do it, they'd hit the road again in his girl. Like Sammy'd say, he just had to have faith.

Dean could handle that. All it really took was seeing Sam's goofy grin. Or just one look into his brother's gentle eyes. Because, even if he still had trouble trusting in the Big Guy, Sam didn't. His baby brother, supposed head of Satan's armies, still believed. Hell, he had buckets of the stuff to spare.

fin

There was a quote from Jared in his newest Eclipse magazine interview that just melted my heart. I'm putting it behind a cut just to be safe but, guys, all I want to do right now is hug the stuffing out of him.

“It wasn’t the Trickster, it wasn’t fake it, was four months of living without his brother, of having to exist without his Dean being there with him,”

Could he be any sweeter? :)

Keep it Real!

You know guys, I normally don't talk politics here. This is for sharing my art, my writing, time with my friends. But this is one time that I wish I had just a little bit of power to change things, to actually make some kind of difference in the world.

We are facing the most important election in our lifetime and it's coming up in just a few short weeks. Our economy is tanking, gas and natural gas prices are the highest that they've ever been and they just keep climbing. Unemployment continues to sky-rocket and more and more people stand on the verge of losing their homes. They say that things are better but they aren't for me. They aren't for most of my friends either. I've seen family-run businesses here in Louisville closing one after another after being open for decades because they can no longer make it in this economy. That's just so sad.

We've lost thousands of our young men and women to a war that we entered for the murkiest of reasons. I lost my older brother to the war in Vietnam, I know the pain first-hand that those families are facing. It gets better but it never goes away. Politicians say we'll stay there until until the battle is 'won.' Who determines that criteria? Who decides when we've reached that lofty goal? If they know they sure aren't saying.

They aren't talking about the issues, they keep getting bogged down in minutia. I don't care about their personal lives. I do care about losing my right to chose what happens to my body. I care about having a possible Commander-in-Chief in the White House who believes that dinosaurs were still around only four thousand years ago. Who thinks that Creationism should be taught in the schools alongside Evolution. Why is it that the women on The View are the only ones asking the hard questions out there? It makes no sense.

What I would like to see is that, from now until the election, the candidates on both sides would be forbidden to wear those little electronic ear buds. That would mean that, rather than hearing only the force-fed words of their handlers, we'd hear what they believed, what they know. We'd get to see how deep their true understanding of the world situation is right now.

This isn't an unreasonable thing to ask. I expect the people who lead us to be able to answer questions on their own. I expect them to be fully versed in the problems and concerns that are facing us in this country every single day of our lives. I'm sorry, but if the only way that they can get by in this election is to regurgitate someone else's words, fed to them through an electronic aide, then they don't deserve to lead.

So, there it is. If I could change one thing for the better it would be to have the power to make them Keep It Real! At least for the time remaining in this campaign.

Waiting to Fall (the 'Can You hear Me Now?' remix) (R Sam/Dean implied)

Today is author reveal day over in the kamikazeremix Challenge. I drew delphinapterus's story, Voices Over the Phone. But, because it was a companion to another story of hers, Who Can Afford It?, I mixed in elements of it as well. Mine is from Dean's POV since the others were Bobby and Sam.

This was my first remix story, ever. I just tried my best to do a good job and not screw up too badly. I was so happy to read that delphinapterus really liked the angle that I took to tell my part of her tale. Knowing that really made my day. :)

Like I said before, there are a bunch of great stories over there. Everyone worked really hard, so go forth, read and comment. You'll be happy that you did. :)

Title: Waiting to Fall (Remix of both Voices Over the Phone & its companion piece, Who Can Afford It?)
Author: digitalwave
Pairing: Dean/Sam (implied wincest)
Rating: PG-13, for language
Warnings: for language, implied Wincest & suggested violence
Spoilers: Up through AHBL, Part 2
Title, Author and URL of the original story: delphinapterus – This story is a remix of both of the related stories; Voices Over the Phone (Bobby POV) & Who Can Afford It? (Sam POV)
Summary: Dean watches, horrified, as it all falls apart around them.
Notes: Thanks so much to my wonderful beta, mickeym, you truly saved my butt. Thank you to our amazing mods for making this run so smoothly. And, lastly, thank you to delphinapterus for letting me play in your words. I hope you think I did them justice.

Don't know why my warped brain decided to make remixing someone else's idea just a little bit harder, but it did. All of the first sections of the story are interconnected drabbles.

(Dean sat on the threadbare brocade of their ancient motel bed, methodically cleaning their guns.)

That's pretty darned cool, huh bud?"

Mary's smiled. Hand settled protectively over her stomach, she felt a tiny flutter. Her youngest definitely agreed.

Three days I lay there, on that damp, musty bed. Did I see my dad, my mom? Did Jess take me in her arms again just like in the movies? I can't remember any of it no matter how I try.

Dean says we're it. That Heaven's just a myth made up by fools to help 'em sleep at night. How can he believe that? We fight the face of Hell almost every fucking day; if Satan's real then why not God? Sure wish I knew the truth.

None of the pretties belong to me, I'm only borrowing them.

A thousand years he's been here and every day they rip away more pieces of his soul. No matter how hard he's fought, and fuck, he has, soon there won't be any left to lose.

He doesn't know if anyone can hear him here. Leastways, anyone not laughing their skanky asses off at his expense. Dean may not always believe in God but he damn sure believes in Sam.

If he comes up topside wearing black in his eyes Sammy'll do what needs to be done; he'll blast his ass back down to Hell. Just, please, don't let him follow.

Sweetie, I'm sorry that I wasn't able to finish this in time. Lee says, though, that as long as you keep getting presents it means your Birthday isn't over yet. I think that's a pretty good policy to follow.

So, here are your pretty boys, I hope you like them and that you had a wonderful day. :)

Title: In Dreams
Artist: digitalwave
Fandom: Smallville
Pairing: Clark/Lex
Rating: R (for non-explicit nudity)
Summary: In Dreams You're Mine...
Disclaimer: The characters in this artwork remain the property of Warner Brothers, DC Comics and related production companies.
Art: Time in a Bottle (Rating R Sam)

Title: Time in a Bottle
Artist: digitalwave
Fandom: Supernatural
Character: Sam
Rating: R (for non-explicit nudity & cursing)
Word count: 200 words
Summary: He'd never realized how precious time really was until it all ran out..
Spoilers: Through all aired episodes
Disclaimer: The characters in this story remain the property of Eric Kripke, Robert Singer and related production companies. None of the pretties belong to me, I'm only borrowing them.

Bobby said he looked like hell, banished him from the house. Said if he got any paler he'd look like the 'damned ghosts they dust.'

Well, fuck him. Fuck him and his rules, making him eat, making him sleep. He couldn't afford it, he had a job to do; the most important job of his whole fricking life. Lying here in the sun, baking the skin on his damned ass sure as shit wasn't bringing Dean back, now, was it?

He forced his fingers to relax, heard the dangerous crackle of the leather binding on the priceless book in his hands. It'd been weeks since Dean died, weeks since he'd lost the last of his family to the dark.

No matter what he did, nothing seemed to work. Not a single demon would answer any summoning spell he tried. Seemed like every evil bastard they'd ever faced hid from Sam now. Guess when you managed to somehow screw with the queen bitch of all the demons word traveled fast.

Sam closed his eyes, sighing. Maybe he'd been wrong, looked down instead of up. It'd been so long, sometimes his soul felt black as Night. Could the Light still hear him?
